The Birmingham Zoo had free admission for military for the weekend of July 4th and we decided to go and check it out! The zoo was pretty nice, but most importantly for Daniel it had a train. The train ride was very nice and went through pretty landscaping and on the back side of the new Trails of Africa exhibit. We got a pretty close-up view of one of the elephants from the train - better than from the front of the exhibit. They also have a really nice playground and sprayground area for the kids to play in. The best part was a big foam pit. I have never seen anything like it before and it was pretty cool. There was a big blower that was making the soap bubbles and the kids could play in it and get all covered by the huge amount of foam. Daniel had a lot of fun playing in it and we had a lot of fun watching him play in it!
