March 2011

March has flown past and we had a great month! Colin has been working perfecting his walking technique. For a while, he just walked sometimes and still crawled primarily. But now, he pretty much uses walking as his main form of transportation. Also this month, Colin turned One Year Old! I can't believe he is already a year old - time flies by so quickly! Daniel is doing good and finally happy to go to his new school. He had a hard time adjusting to the move and the new school, but he is doing better now. He also finally learned to pedal his tricycle that he got for his second birthday. He has always just pushed it along with his feet, which he was really good at, and didn't use the pedals. And now that he has finally started to pedal, the tricycle is almost too small for him! I hope you enjoyed the other blog posts from the month, and here are a few more pictures and videos of our month. Enjoy!

Daniel & Colin
Daniel REALLY wanted to get a picture of him and Colin. He was holding onto Colin in the chair and Colin was just trying to get away. I did manage to get this one cute shot. :)

Dad, Daniel and the Paper Airplane
Daniel was drawing on paper and he asked Allan to help him make a paper airplane. It was completely random! I asked him where he learned about paper airplanes and he said "Special Agent Oso". They made the paper airplanes and then I got this cute shot of them together.

Naked Baby!
This is how I found Colin one morning! This boy loves to take his clothes off. He was actually quite happy playing in his crib until I came in and then left the room to get the camera. The worst part is that his pajama pants are still around his little ankles.

Daniel’s Letter
Daniel told me he made a letter. I asked him what letter it was and he said "I made a letter out of animals." (the magnets are animals).

Zoo with Dad

On the weekend after Spring Break, we went back to the zoo with Dad. He was working the first time we went and didn't get to go. We had a nice time and it was very uncrowded. Here are a couple pictures from the day.

Plane Display - Maxwell AFB, AL

While Aunt Jennifer was visiting, we went down to the base and took the boys to see the static plane displays. They have several different airplanes from different eras and even a helicopter. Here are a couple pictures from the day.

Montgomery Zoo

We also had a nice visit from Aunt Jennifer during Spring Break. Aunt Jennifer and I took the boys to the Montgomery Zoo. The zoo was a lot nicer than I was expecting and has a little train ride, which is all Daniel really needs! We joined the zoo membership, so we can go as often as we want and ride the train as many times as we want! The zoo is large enough, but not so big that you can't see it all within the space of a nice visit. It appears that they have made lots of recent improvements and built new habitats for lots of the animals. There is still a lot of work going on in areas of the zoo, so it appears they are still working on the renovation. It was a really good day! Check out our slideshow!

Mimi & Granddad Visit

This week was Spring Break and we had some visitors - Mimi & Granddad! Allan only had to work two afternoons of the week, so it was nice for him to be home and get to spend time with his parents too. It was really great for the boys to get to see family, especially since we had gotten so used to it during the last year in Texas. We enjoyed a nice visit and can't wait to see them in June!

Colin is One Year Old!

Today, Colin turned one year old! I can't believe how fast the time has gone and how much he has grown, learned and developed in the past year. It seems like just yesterday that he was born! For his birthday, we had a simple family celebration with cupcakes and presents. Colin loved the birthday cake (after he figured out what it was). Daniel "helped" Colin open the presents and both boys enjoyed playing with Colin's new toys. I also got a couple of shots of Colin with his newborn going-home-from-the-hospital outfit to show how much he has grown. Happy Birthday Colin!

Happy Birthday Colin!
Daniel was saying "Happy Birthday Colin" before I turned on the video camera. Then, when I started filming, he stopped and "smiled" because he thought I was taking his picture.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie...

At Daniel's school, they were reading the stories "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," "If You Give a Pig a Pancake," and "If You Give a Moose a Muffin." They made cute little cookies, pancakes and muffins out of craft foam and the teachers made cute wall decorations with them. I got a picture of the Mouse and Pig walls, but didn't get the Moose one before they took it down. Here they are:
