The Rich Family: January 2011

This has been a very busy month! On January 2, we left the Dallas area in two cars, pulling a trailer, with the two kids, the dog and the cat, to drive to our new home in Prattville, AL. Allan's new duty station is at Maxwell AFB, AL, where he will be instructing at Air Command & Staff College (ACSC). We will be here for three years. We recently purchased a house in Prattville, a little town about 10-15 minutes north-west of Montgomery, AL. We were very lucky to be able to move right into the house and have our HHG delivered the day after we arrived in AL. The first night in the new house, we didn't have our stuff yet, so we slept on an air mattress and Daniel slept on a little workout pad that we got. In the morning, I asked him if he slept OK and he said he wanted his bed back. I told him he would have it that night. We were able to get the boys into childcare on the base for the day while the movers were here, so that was super helpful. Daniel was happy to have his bed back. :) We worked really hard and got the house unpacked in pretty much record time for us, which was nice to have our stuff all unpacked and pretty organized!

Daniel started school at his new MDO the second week we were here. He still goes Tuesday & Thursday and so far has cried every day that I dropped him off. But he always says he had a good day and the teachers say he always has a good day and is fine pretty soon after I leave. Colin is starting to cruise around and is becoming an avid climber. He climbs up on stuff and then can't figure out how to get down yet. We have spent most the month just trying to settle in and stay well (a little sickness here and there for us). We look forward to meeting new people in the area and have lots of plans for the house.
