After touring the palace, we arrived at the Edelweiss Resort in Garmisch, Germany. The resort is run by the US military as an R&R location for military members and their families. It was really nice to be somewhere that everyone spoke English automatically and the waitresses brought out free water with no bubbles at the restaurants! They had these cute Daniel-sized rocking chairs in the lobby, so of course I had to get a picture of Daniel in one of those!
On the second day, Allan and I went skiing. It was only my second time ever! There was a lot of fresh new snow, which (according to those people who knew what they were doing) made it "harder" to ski. But it was great for me, because it made a nice soft cushion for landing on when I fell!
On Wednesday, we went to the town of Oberammergau near Garmisch. This town is famous for it's wood carving shops and frescoed buildings. We also saw this tiny camel (which we thought was odd for Germany) and took a picture of Daniel with it. I am now thinking that the camel was probably part of a Nativity scene, which the town is famous for carving.
On the way back to Garmisch, we stopped by the Ettal Monastery and took a quick peek inside the church. It was beautiful inside!
Finally on Thursday morning the sun came out! Of course, that was the day we were leaving, but I snapped a few picture of the beautiful mountain scenery before we drove out of town.
